Academics & Athletics
Medinah Christian School is accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International and is officially recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education. Medinah Christian School has a strong academic curriculum that extends from our pre-school program all the way through junior high. Our students receive instruction in Bible, English/literature (phonics), math, science, history, penmanship, vocal music, art, Spanish, computers, and physical education. Along with these established programs we offer:
- Private piano, guitar, percussion, harp and voice lessons starting in first grade*
- Foods class for students in junior high
- Puppet Ministry for students in 5th – 8th
- Drama for students in 3rd – 8th
- Chess club for students in K – 8th*
*Are offered but are not covered by tuition; there is an additional cost for these programs.
Our computer lab provides students with instruction in Web Design, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Students in our lower grades learn through games and activities; whereas older students create documents and presentations. All students in grades first through eighth work on keyboarding skills.
Medinah Christian School utilizes curriculum from Abeka Book, Prentice Hall, Four Square Creative Writing, Houghton Mifflin, Scott Foresman, and other resource materials that help bring curriculum to life. Our textbooks and teaching materials reflect the very best in scholarship, design, practicality, and spiritual fidelity.
Along with a strong academic program, Medinah Christian School offers a competitive athletic program for boys and girls beginning in 5th grade. Medinah Christian School offers the following athletic opportunities:
- Soccer, co-ed grades 5th – 8th
- Volleyball, girls grades 6th – 8th
- Basketball, boys grades 5th – 8th
- Basketball, girls grades 6th – 8th
- Cheerleading, girls grades 5th – 8th
- Track, co-ed grades 5th – 8th
